Sport Leadership Projects

In the Sport Leadership Club, we’re not just talking about leadership—we’re putting it into action. Our club is focused on developing real-world projects that give members hands-on experience in the sports industry while making an impact on campus and beyond. Below are some of the exciting initiatives we’re planning.

Fantasy Sports Website

Student-driven content that builds career-launching communication skills.

Real-world experience before you hit the job market.

Our fantasy sport portfolio will launch with football content and organically grow based upon student interest. This site, fantasyinsightpro.com allows us to promote our other projects too!

Sport Marketing Campaigns

Student led campaigns in partnership with University and external partners.

The club will engage in marketing projects that support student learning and have community impact.

We partner to manage economic impact studies, membership drives, strategic plans, branding, sponsorship and more. Think NIL , sport advocacy and sport development.

Sport Product & Service Innovation

Student led entrepreneurial initiatives

The club supports a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem and provides support for student projects.

Two Midway student teams have been selected for the KY State Pitch Finals over the past few years. In 2023 one team too top honors in the exploratory phase start-up category. Have an innovation that impacts sport? Join us.

Club Events:

Student-driven events that build awareness, create opportunities, and expose students to real-world sports business and marketing experiences. Our goal is to help students step beyond the classroom and into environments where leadership, networking, and career growth happen.

Sports Business & Marketing Expos (Kentucky & Beyond)

We’re actively planning trips to attend and participate in major sports business expos and marketing conferences across the region.

Examples include:

  • Kentucky Sports Industry Summit

  • Louisville Sports & Entertainment Conference

  • Bluegrass Sports Leadership Expo

Professional Development Days

Each semester, we’ll hold a Leadership in Sports Day on campus with:

  • Guest speakers (local athletic directors, coaches, and marketers)

  • LinkedIn and resume workshops

  • Mock interviews and career coaching

  • Info booths for internships and grad programs in the sports world

Leadership Labs and Case Competitions:

We’ll host on-campus leadership challenges and case study competitions where teams tackle real scenarios in sports business:

  • How to grow ticket sales for a struggling team

  • How to build a brand around an athlete with an NIL opportunity

  • How to create a fan experience campaign on a budget

These events build strategic thinking and collaboration—critical skills for future sports leaders.

Social Opportunities and Fundraising

Leadership is about relationships too. We’ll host:

  • Fantasy Football Draft Parties

  • Watch parties for big games

  • Fundraising events like “Rep Your Team” days or 3v3 tournaments
These are a chance to build connections while supporting club projects and a chance to travel.
